Uses for Lemons

There are many uses for lemons. Let’s discuss some here.

1. Combine an equal amount of lemon juice and water into a spray bottle and use as a cleaner for the kitchen and bathroom.

2. Clean your microwave by heating a bowl of water and lemon slices for about a minute on high. Open the door to allow the steam to escape, then wipe clean.

3. Santitise your chopping boards. Rub lemon juice over them, leave overnight and then rinse the next day.

4. Make your own air freshner by combining equal amounts of water and lemon juice, plus one or two drops of lemon oil in an atomiser. It’ll make your home smell fresh.

5. Clean copper-bottomed pots and pans with lemon juice. Copper fixtures can also benefit from a lemon juice cleaning. Cut a lemon in half. Dip it in some salt, and clean spots from your copper.

6. Vinegar can be a great cleaning ingredient, but many people dislike the vinegar smell. Adding lemon juice to vinegar when cleaning can help neutralize the vinegar smell.

7. Countertop stains can be removed by allowing lemon juice to sit on the stain for a few minutes. Scrub the area with baking soda and watch the stains disappear. Don’t leave the lemon juice sitting for too long. It can be powerful stuff.

8. Lemon juice acts as a natural bleaching agent. Put lemon juice onto white linens and clothing and allow them to dry in the sun. Stains will be bleached away.

9. Lemon rinds can be ground in the garbage disposal to freshen the drain. Hot water with a little lemon poured down a drain will also freshen the drain.

10. Pouring lemon juice around areas that ants frequent is said to repel them.

11. Half a lemon stored in your fridge will help control and eliminate unpleasant smells.

12. Mix 1/2 cup borax and a cup of lemon juice for a powerful toilet cleaner that will leave it smelling extra clean!

13.  A teaspoon of lemon juice added to your dishwashing detergent can help boost grease cutting power.

14. Four tablespoons of lemon juice mixed with half a litre of water makes an effective window cleaner.

15. The smell of fish can linger on your hands, even after scrubbing with soap – rubbing your hands with lemon juice will neutralize the smell and leave your hands smelling wonderful.
